(1140-1225)
German scholar. He wandered from place to place, visiting Bonn, Worms, Wtirzburg, Mainz, Metz, Cologne and Regensburg. He refused to accept rabbinic office in order not to derive material benefit from his learning. Eventually he accepted the rabbinate of Cologne in 1200.
